Team Humanity and That Costco Life

Part of my new morality is being decidedly on team humanity.

The future is already here. It’s just not equally distributed. We already produce enough. If we get the mix of robotics and AI just right, we can lift everyone up without anyone having to drop too far.

That’s the nudge. Off the Nash equilibrium of fake money and corrupt governance. Onto sound money and transparent algorithmic governance, without elected officials. Smart contracts for resource allocation, probably. Free network association. Voluntary geographic association into mostly homogenous societies, because people will choose to live among those who share their values.

Team Humanity succeeds when those things are true.

The balancing point, for me, is a Costco/Target lifestyle. We’ve gotten so good at manufacturing that you can find really high quality stuff at that level. You can pay a good deal more for a small bump in quality. That isn’t the sweet spot. Costco/Target is. I’m willing to live at this level if it means we can also raise everyone else up to it. If I’m buying something beyond this, there’s got to be a really good reason for it.
