Poker Training Night

I want to teach my kids, and especially my son, what it is that I do, which is playing in and hosting a poker game. I didn’t think this was important until recently, but now that I see AI taking over a lot of jobs that I thought would be good for my kids, I want to teach them something that humans will still value in a world where AI does all the programming. Specifically, I want to teach them how to deal poker, because I think live games will persist.

They won’t quite pay attention the same way if I’m not also teaching this to other adults. Fortunately, this is also a valuable skill for other adults to have. I just need some of you to show up occasionally on a Friday night (that’s a night I consistently have the kids) and learn how to deal poker for my game.

I’m a very good teacher in this arena, with decades of experience. I can teach you how to be an excellent dealer, and I can teach you how to play if you’re interested. This is probably the only game where I could promise to tell you the truth about how to play a hand instead of just telling you that you played it right. There’s an ethical code to real money games. This is just a training game.

Dealers who show up to training night and show me they know what they’re doing will have priority for shifts at my real money game, which are quite lucrative.

I have no idea if this will work. I want it to be a friendly thing. We order DoorDash and take turns learning to deal and play. Something I can invite my non-poker friends to join. Something where my kids are learning and having fun doing it, and you are too.
